Versys^® is a very powerful insecticide with activity against aphids at all emerged life stages. 

Versys is now registered in a very wide of broadacre and horticulture crops, including wheat, barley, canola brassicas and grapevines.

Versys Group 9D mode of action helps manage resistance, and has minimal impact on beneficial insects and bees making it an ideal addition to any IPM program.

Versys stops affected label pests, which also include aphids, whiteflies and long-tailed mealybugs in some crops, from feeding in just a few minutes. That rapid impact helps to prevent transmission of the damaging diseases the insects can spread.

How it works

Like all Group 9 insecticides, Versys^® acts as a chordotonal organ TRPV channel modulator in aphids. Chordotonal organs are stretch sensors that insects rely on for their senses of hearing and balance and which are critical for coordinated movement. When Versys selectively binds to TRPV channels, it causes the sensors to send continuous chordotonal nerve signals independent of joint movement.

The result is that target pests stop feeding in as little as 15 minutes as they become deaf, disoriented and unable to control their legs and antennae. The resulting jittery movements can then create the appearance of ‘dancing’.

In addition to its rapid action against aphids, Versys insecticide is also an innovative solution for managing long-tailed mealybugs in grapevines. It employs a similar mechanism by selectively binding to TRPV channels, which are essential for the insect's stretch sensors that control hearing and balance. This binding leads to continuous nerve signalling, causing overstimulation of the chordotonal nerves. As a result, long-tailed mealybugs experience a rapid cessation of feeding, significantly disrupting their ability to sense their environment and slowing population growth. With a broad application window, Versys allows for timely intervention throughout various infestation periods, enhancing resistance management strategies and ensuring sustainable pest control while preserving beneficial insects.
